BROADVIEW RACECOURSE
Broadview Racecourse was situated in WarrentonVirginia and hosted the Virginia Gold Cup for 50 years before it was transferred to Great Meadows in 1982. The racecourse was administered by the Warrenton Hunt Committee who were responsible for promoting the Virginia Gold Cup.

Its principal race was the Virginia Gold Cup, a 4 mile steeplechase between flags with natural fences and walls to contest, was first run on 7th May 1922. In that inaugural running the winner was Irish Laddie ridden by Arthur White and owned by Katherine Hitt.

I am grateful to our American Racing Correspondent Richard Gauthier for the scan of the rare badge shown above, and for the link to a detailed history of the Virginia Gold Cup.
